The name of our site, Tumbling Nomad, probably needs a little explanation. Tumbling is a term used when talking about gymnastics or desert weeds. As much as I enjoy a good flip off a diving board, the name was inspired by the latter.
Let's start with these definitions:
tum-ble (verb): move or rush in a headlong or uncontrolled way
no-mad (noun): a member of a people having no permanent abode, and who travel from place to place
The name of this site, Tumbling Nomad, came about in a conversation because much of my childhood I was moved around in a very uncontrolled way. My dad's job relocated our family often and even though my parents were awesome about everything - I couldn't control where or when I was going. That constant change left me often feeling like I had no real permanent home. It has also helped shape the definition of home in my adult life. I am open to exploring new places and find happiness and peace in the adventure.
Like a weed in the hands of a breeze, this Nomad will tumble wherever the wind takes me. It is that carefree spirit that drives this brand and it is here to help anyone who wants to go where the wind blows.
